William Henry Willmott: my police officer ancestor

4th May, 2021

Policing and law enforcement is part of my family history going back to the Victorian era. My great great grandfather, William Henry Willmott, shown here in his uniform, was a police constable in London in the 1880s. The family story was that he was part of the hunt for Jack The Ripper. I suspect that might be a bit of a family yarn!
Standing to be your Police and Crime Commissioner on May 6th is an opportunity for me to continue serve the communities of Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, and something I hope my ancestor would be proud of.
