Labour promise fulfilled as the 10,000th tree is planted on 11th Dec 2010

17th December, 2010

At the 2007 elections the Labour Party promised that the council would plant 10,000 trees in the city. Pictured is Ross with  Cllr Sarah Russell Cabinet member for Environment at the planting of the 10,000 tree in Granby St. At the unveiling of the commemorative plaque next to the lime tree Sarah said:

“I am really proud that we have kept our promise and planted 10,000 trees. Not only has this helped to green the city but has brought communities, schools and children together as they have joined in with the tree planting. I would like to thank Ross for putting this idea into our manifesto”.

This is just a start. Why don’t we have a scheme for gardens and why not 10,000 window boxes to brighten up our city?

I wish more people would write blogs like this that are really fun to read. With all the fluff floating around on the net, it is rare to read a blog like this instead.
